iPhone aftermath
After a few days of letting the dust settle, I still say that the iPhone is a fantastic new phone. There are a couple of features that are not that great though, for instance it doesn’t have 3G/UMTS. Jobs did anounce that they will add that when it is more commonly available in the US. So I’m hoping that they will add 3G for the European version, since 3G is everywhere over here. (blogging this from the train over 3G)
Also Jobs said that there will be OSX on the phone. Which of course is a phone-OSX and not the real thing, which is logical and makes perfect sense. What bugs me though is that Apple is keeping the platform closed, so no 3rd-party apps. I believe this is a mistake, that’s what made palmOS and symbian great… Hopefully they will make the widgets open so at least we can have some user-generated apps.
Using the touchscreen to type also seems really difficult, especially the smartphone-users with a qwerty-keypad are going to have to think twice how much they need to type fast.
All those things aside, I would still love to have it, probably couldn’t stop playing with it… Still months and months to go…
Update: Looking at my predictions, just the Apple (i)TV and the iPhone.. Ah well the rest is just a matter of time..
